Derrick Fazendin | Manager of Social Media and Sports Events

Derrick Fazendin joined the CMPR team in 2016 as the Manager of Social Media and Sports Events. In this role he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day strategy and execution of media content across the entire digital landscape – including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more – while also advising clients on their social media platforms to expand engagement with their target audience. Other responsibilities include account, event management and heading CMPR’s internship program.   Prior to joining the CMPR team, Fazendin held the position of Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at the University of Arizona, where he served as the primary media relations contact for the Wildcats’ football and baseball programs. He also previously headed the communications efforts for UA’s women’s basketball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis teams. In addition, he was in charge of developing and maintaining Arizona’s student internship program within the department’s communications office.Fazendin worked in a similar role at the University Houston and in Cal State Fullerton’s athletics departments, as he served as the media relations contact for UH’s women’s basketball and women’s tennis programs during the 2013-14 campaign, while also leading the department’s student internship program. At Cal State Fullerton, he served as the primary contact for the women's basketball, men's soccer, men and women's track and field teams and was a secondary contact for the nationally ranked Titan baseball program during the 2012-13 season.A native of Mission Viejo, Calif., he also held internships with Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during the 2012 season and with the University of Arizona, where he worked primarily with the 2012 College World Series Champion baseball program as a media relations assistant. He also served as the media relations contact for UA's nationally ranked rugby program.Fazendin received his bachelor's degree in journalism with a sports management minor from Arizona in 2012.He is an avid supporter of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Rams, and of course his alma mater, the Arizona Wildcats.Fazendin currently resides in Newport Beach, Calif.
