October 31, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA – Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) has announced the line-up for its inaugural “Leaders & Legends” event taking place November 15-18 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This unique exclusive event will feature Olympic Gold Medalists; Hall-Of-Fame Coaches and Managers; World Series Champions; NFL Champions; Cy Young Award Winners; and Grand Slam Champions all within one memorable event.

The “Leaders & Legends” confirmed to date include World Champion Manager Tony La Russa (St. Louis Cardinals & Oakland A’s); Olympic Gold Medalists Kerri Walsh Jennings (Beach Volleyball), Mia Hamm (Soccer), Julie Foudy (Soccer), Mike Eruzione (Hockey), and Ann Meyers Drysdale (Basketball); World Champion Manager Joe Torre (New York Yankees); NFL Champion Jim Brown (Cleveland Browns); Pro Bowl MVP Gale Sayers (Chicago Bears); five-time World Series Champion Reggie Jackson; Cy Young Award Winners Greg Maddux (Atlanta Braves & Chicago Cubs), Bob Gibson (St. Louis Cardinals), and Dennis Eckersley (Oakland A’s); three-time NCAA Champion & Olympic Gold Medalist Coach Bob Knight (Indiana Hoosiers); eight-time Grand Slam Champion & Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Agassi; eleven-time NBA champion (Player-Boston Celtics) Bill Russell; eight-time NBA Champion (Player-Boston Celtics) and three-time NBA Coach of the Year Don Nelson (Milwaukee Bucks/Golden State Warriors); eight-time NBA Champion John Havlicek (Boston Celtics); American Heroes and POWs Louis Zamperini and Thomas H. The entire event will take place at various venues at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. About Tony La Russa
After concluding a 16-year playing career in the minor and major leagues, Tony La Russa solidified his position in baseball history as one of the game’s greatest managers. A four-time Manager of the Year, he is the second Major League Baseball manager to win World Series Championships in both National and American Leagues, and he has led teams to six league championships and three World Series titles. A stray cat wandering onto the playing field during an Oakland Athletics game inspired him to found Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation with his wife, Elaine, in 1991. Tony retired from his managerial career in 2011 and released a bestselling book, One Last Strike: Fifty Years in Baseball, Ten and a Half Games Back, and One Final Championship Season in 2012.
