NBA ALL-STAR DERON WILLIAMS TO HOST FIRST ANNUAL ‘DODGE BARRAGE’ CHARITY DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT PRESENTED BY REEL CODE MEDIA ON THURSDAY, SEPT. 19 IN NYC

New York, NY – Three-time NBA All-Star and Brooklyn Nets captain Deron Williams is hosting his first annual Dodge Barrage charity dodgeball tournament at the new Basketball City in Manhattan (299 South Street, Pier 36) on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. It will be the first event for the new Brooklyn Nets to be together ahead of the 2013-14 NBA season. SNL's Jay Pharaoh and NY Giants star Justin Tuck also will be among the list of NYC celebrities in attendance.

Event proceeds will benefit Williams’ Point of Hope Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life of children and families and has specifically supported organizations that focus on cancer research, children with autism research and single mothers. Dodge Barrage will be focused on supporting autism research as well as programming that helps children with autism and their families. Some of the proceeds will directly benefit Autism Speaks and New York Collaborates for Autism (NYCA). Both non-profit organizations are close to Williams' heart.

The tournament is proudly presented by Reel Code Media – an interactive augmented reality app that allows users to access four channels of multimedia content -- as well as a number of other generous partners. The round-robin style celebrity dodgeball tournament will feature some of the world’s best dodgeball players, along with corporate teams, celebrities and special guests. There also will be a silent and live auction, raffle and an exclusive VIP barbecue at 7 p.m. hosted by Sweet Chick, Brooklyn's newest chicken and waffle house.

“I am excited to host Dodge Barrage 2013 to celebrate the Point of Hope Foundation and our work,” said Williams. “This event will be the first annual Dodgeball tournament for us here in NYC, but I have been hosting Dodgeball events for years. I think it's a fun way to get together, do something different and raise a lot of money for charity.”
